The most common type of sensor used for pneumatic cylinders are magnetic proximity sensors, which detect the magnetic field of a magnet integrated into the cylinder piston. The sensor is mounted on the pneumatic cylinder body and indicates "ON" or "OFF" depending on the proximity to the magnet.
These magnetic sensors have non-contact transistor output. Their sensitive element is a holotron. They are characterized by a long working life of 10 million cycles. Their supply voltage is 10...30 Vdc. The output type is key. Output type NO or NC, PNP or NPN.
